More on turning a new age

I am now seventeen. Feel free to give me presents, because the only ones I have gotten so far were from my parents. There is just so much pressure to have a good time on my birthday. Oh well. You guys should come to my birthday party. It will be on the 9th of august, at a time i have not decided but probably late.

Davis, I realize you have a lot of money. So I expect big things from you. Or I could use a drum set, which if you think about it could save you money.

Jason, a simple hug from you would do nicely.

I do not have sports, But sports does not have me

My earliest memory of my involvement in sports was in soccer. Despite my dads extreme disaproval of that sport, he let me play the game anyway. He probably knew that it would dawn upon some day to quit taking the womens self-defense course at the YMCA, and stop kicking balls.

After that experience it seemed to me that all sports were just as lame as soccer. I didn't understand why an elipse shaped ball would be any fun. You couldn't even bounce it repetedly. But one day at school on the play ground, I finally convinced myself to go play football with the other kids in hopes of being cool or making friends at least. I walked up to one of them and said in an uninterested manner, "Hey guys, could I play?" They imediately said back, "sorry, we already have an even amount of players." I put on a dissapointed look as I said, "Well thats fine play another time", but praised in my head that I didn't have to go through not getting the ball ever thrown to me and/or dropping it if it was, and so I proceeded on to the swings. Later that day it became clear to me that I did not want sports, and sports did not want me.

Ever since those two experiences, I have learned to appreciate football and basketball and think soccer is totally gay. Of course I do play ultimate frisbee at least a little religiously. But I enjoy that because there are frequently several new people there to play it every week, and because I am a regular attendee to it, I always look like I am one of the really good players. (Mostly because I know everyones name) But in all reality I am probably just above decent and thats all I will ever be.

Quick, lazy and appropriate update

Procrastination- Hard work often pays often after time, but laziness always pays off now.

Hippy liberals

I saw a bumper sticker the other day. It read, "Don't trust the corporate devils". I don't know what to say that except that, I wont trust the corporate devils. But I didn't even know there were corporate devils. And I don't even know which ones are devils and which ones aren't so I am going to trust them until I have further proof.

Vain Pride

I've noticed that if you grew up with 90's grunge music like Nirvana or Pearl Jam, you might have lots of pride for that. Or I just work with a bunch of people who are way to prideful of there generations music. It just seems that those people will try and use every chance they get to let me know they grew up with grunge, and they know who pearl jam is. This is getting on my nerves, because this isn't that great of music at all. I was hoping people would elaborate any thoughts on this.

Stay away from the edge

I was talking to one of my friends a couple days back, and we were discussing two friends of ours who are planning on getting married within this month. My friend, whom I was talking with, was led to the subject about underaged/unmarried sex. He said that he had talked with his girlfriend about it and decided not to do these things. So I was happy for him, as one should be, but he then said something like this to me.

"Gunn, you would be suprised at how hard it is to not have underaged/unmarried sex, when you are dating a girl."

Well, I can't argue that that is not true, because I have yet to have a girlfriend. I immediately thought of a direct solution to this. Don't Date. Or at least don't date until you are mature enough to control these temptations. If sex is a real temptation for a person you don't go anywhere near the idea until you can control it. I don't believe that this is a problem for everyone, because people have different temptations in different areas.

This is how Jim Wilson explains it. Christians don't like the idea of sin, but they like to get a good look at the sin. Two people date, both well knowing that they could go do the clearly obvious sin. Holding hands becomes kissing and then what does kissing become? I'll let you figure that out. And now I leave you with a bible verse that I did not have to open a bible for but was sitting on a diagram that Jim Wilson had made.

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." -Matthew 6:13

Busy (In my standards at least)

I have a lot of stuff going on this summer. Here is a list of things:

-Summer school. I am just trying to make my senior year as easy as possible.

-Summer Bible Study. I am hosting one so its not something I am aloud to miss or forget once in a while.

-School Summer Shakespeare Play. I am doing it again, for the play The Taming of the shrew. I am playing as Gremio, suitor to Bianca.

-Advertising the Play. I have been signed up to do that.

-Wingers. I will be working there, to pay my car insurance and cellphone bill.

-Possible Senior Trip. I will be attempting to save up money for a senior trip to head to some european country, most likely Italy. But the class is still not sure if we are going to do it.

-Bad Juju. Is now our official band name. I have not mentioned this band before because I was a scared Little girl self-conscious of what everybody thinks of me. . .oh and Jason. We are: Graeme on vocals, Nate Olson on lead guitar, Jd Morrow on bass, and myself on drums. Don't worry Jason, I will be hopefully taking some more lessons from Bill Hebert. Also Jason, if you have anything to say about starting a band please speak.

-Next Skate video. Graeme and I have been working on the next skate video and taking our time. We take our time because there is a lot to do. We aren't just making skate sections for this one because thats what we did for the last Two. We are adding some comedic skits in between these sections so people wont get as bored. We haven't even started editing, have just been mineing for clips.

-Skate Trip. This is what makes up for us not going to the barn burner. we will hopefully leave after Graeme gets back for is two week long annual training and we either head to Seattle or Portland or maybe both.

So I am excited for this summer to get a lot of this out of the way.
